Where to Find Book Giveaways: 8 Sites That Offer Free Reads

book giveaway sites blog post image

Few things will catch a book lover’s attention faster than the words “free book,” especially if it comes from their favorite author or genre.

Fortunately, there are loads of sites and blogs that run book giveaways and offer readers the chance to preview new books. In this post, we’ve rounded up some of the most trusted options that will help you keep your library fully stocked.

8 Book Giveaway Sites

Below are 8 sites that offer free book giveaways you can win through a raffle, or by request in exchange for an honest review.

1. Goodreads

Goodreads runs hundreds of giveaways each week. You can browse them by “Ending Soon,” “Featured,” “Recent,” or “Popular.” Many of the books that are given away on Goodreads are pre-release copies that authors and publishers provide in an effort to get early reviews and spread the word about their books (although writing a review is not a requirement if you win).

You can easily track the giveaways you’ve entered, and each giveaway lists the number of entries it’s received so far. Filter giveaways by print of Kindle books, or by genre. Currently, Kindle giveaways are exclusive to U.S. residents, while print giveaways are available to both U.S. and Canadian residents.

2. Book Riot

If you subscribe to Book Riot’s newsletter, you’ll get access to their exclusive book giveaways. In addition to books, you can enter to win book swag and bookstore gift cards.

You can also head directly to their Giveaways page to check out all ongoing promotions, which are organized by deadline.

Alternatively, become a Book Riot Insider to be automatically entered in their monthly drawing. Membership costs $5/month for the Novel level, but according to the site, your chances of winning are much higher than in the free giveaways.

3. LibraryThing

Much like Goodreads, LibraryThing offers its members access to giveaways for print books, ebooks, and audiobooks.

Unlike many other giveaways that operate as contests or random drawings, LibraryThing’s giveaways are by request. The catch is that, in most cases, an online review is expected in exchange for the free book.

For each giveaway, you can see how many copies are available and how many have already been requested. A LibraryThing account is required to participate in these giveaways.

4. First to Read

Sponsored by Penguin Random House, First to Read is a giveaway program that allows readers to preview new releases in ebook format. Enter the drawing pool for your chance to win, or use your reward points to secure your copy.

You can earn points by uploading proof of purchase of Penguin Random House books. Every qualifying purchase gets you 10 points, and 120 points gets you a free book!

5. Bookish First

Bookish First offers previews of new releases and asks readers to write their first impressions of the book for a chance to win a copy.

And even if you don’t win a copy of the full book, you’ll earn points for future free books. Earn extra points when you share your first impression review on other book community websites.

6. The Book Diva’s Reads

The Book Diva’s Reads is a site that frequently gives away books and other swag, including tote bags and even tablets, which was recently part of the site’s 10th anniversary giveaway.

Vivian Taylor is the woman behind the site, which also features author interviews, book reviews, and writing and publishing advice. Check the blog frequently for the latest updates on giveaways.

7. Join Author Mailing Lists

Another great way to stay on top of giveaway opportunities is to sign up for your favorite authors’ mailing lists.

When an author has a new book coming out, they’ll often give away free copies as a way to promote their book or get early reviews. Subscribe to their mailing lists to find out when giveaways start and what you need to do to enter.

8. Follow Publishers on Social Media

Finally, you can follow publishers on social media for the latest updates on new releases and promotional offers.

Here at TCK Publishing, we offer exclusive book deals when you sign up for our free newsletter to get offers on free and discounted ebooks.

Enter and Win Free Book Giveaways

There are a lot of opportunities out there to win free books. While it may be tempting to enter them all, please remember to only enter giveaways for books you’ll actually read, so you can avoid wasting time, resources, and paper.

And though it may not be a requirement, consider writing an honest, thoughtful review of the free book you’ve received. It will provide the author with feedback, and help other readers find books they’ll love,
